Experience in Hindustan Cables Ltd.( R & D Centre) :: I have taken training in HCL (as a M.Tech. Trainee) from April 1988 to Sept. 1988, which is engaged in manufacturing of Cable Testing Instruments of following: i. Cable Fault Locator ii. Insulation Resistance Tester iii. Cable Route Locator iv. Digital Cross Talk & Attention Tester v. Resistance Unbalance Meter vi. Microprocessor Based MC Meter vii. Pulse Echo Tester viii. Optical Fibre Cables Design of Microprocessor Based Insulation Resistance Monitor: Microprocessor based insulation resistance monitor is used for continuous checks on under ground buried dry core cables. The system controlled by a single microprocessor 8748, 7101 to measure leakage current up to 10 representative pairs from 10 cables simultaneously. The microcomputer computers the IR from the leakage current and displays the results in the range 0.1 to 0.9 mega ohms and 1 to 9 mega ohms. An audio alarm is activated when the IR falls below a preset (set through program) value. The scan rate is settable in the range 1 to 9 seconds. The scanning is sequential and cyclic. This system operates on -48V DC exchange power supply. Field Evaluation of HCL Instruments: Field evaluation of electronic instruments developed for use in factory with HCL Engineers on different shop floors. Cables Testing: Experience on conducting of water penetration and water immersion tests on jelly filled cables as for the AT & T specifications. Calibrating of Instruments: Association in design and development of calibration electronic instruments used by DOT for monitoring the healthiness of the underground cables, to maintain cable network and to localize the various types of faults. Field Evaluation of Imported Cable Testing Instruments: Field evaluation of electronic instruments developed for use in DOT by DOT engineers and TRC officers at different Telecommunication cable routes. Preparation of Reports: Involving in preparation of filed evaluation of electronic instruments developed as well as interacting with Telecommunication Research Center (TRC) officers. Experience: i. Experience in handling personal computer (PC XT & AT) and Microcomputer development systems (LDS 64000) etc. ii. Experience in Design of Optical Fibre Communication Data Links. iii. Experience in Transferring of files from LDS64000 to PC XT. iv. Experience in interfacing the electronic typewriter with the PC. Seminar given in M.Tech program on programmable Logic Controller: i. Advantage in these systems decisions making is carried out by coded instructions, which are stored in a memory chip and executed by a microprocessor. ii. Now if the control system must be modified only the coded instruction need to be changed. iii. Such changes are called software changes and they are quickly and easily implemented just by typing a Keyboard. Project Developed in HCL: “PC Based Insulation Resistance Monitor” The low cost PC based system shall be located in Telephone exchange to monitor insulation resistance continuous telecommunication cables. Deterioration in insulation resistance property of the cable as represented on a single pair from each cable shall be detected and suitable alarm shall be raised. The lower limit of insulation resistance to be tested shall be independently programmable for each cable and audio /visual indication of status of all the cables being tested shall be available. The PC based equipment shall provide periodic status report. 2. Instruments Developed in Srinidhi Digital Systems Pvt.Ltd., Hyderabad :: I have 18 months experience as a R & D Engineer and Engineer trainee in this organization, which is engaged in the manufacturing of Computer peripherals, Digital Instruments and following in this organization. i. Electronic Detector for Damaged Bearing: This instrument is used for detecting the damaged bearings in mechanical equipment in various industries and automobiles etc. this is designed by using low cost sensor and amplifier and output meter. ii. Testing Instrument for SCR’s and TRIAC’s: Industrial users most of them are facing problem with SCR’s and TRIAC’s whether they are working or not. Theses components are using in A.C. few volts to few hundreds of volts for conducting purpose. By using this tester we can easily find the damaged SCR and TRIAC. This instrument is designed, using of simple stepdown transformer, triggering circuit and LED’s for indication purpose. iii. Development of Disk to VCR backup system ADD-ON card for PC’s XT’s and AT’s: (based Auto fax corp. Add – on card) By using this card whatever data stored in hard disk or floppy disk, than can be stored in Video cassette through Video cassette recorder. This card minimizes the cost of storage device. By using PC or XT or AT we can write in to Video cassette and we can read from Video cassette through this ADD-ON card. iv. Automatic Start and Stop Controller for AC Motor’s: Application of this instrument in mine’s and overhead tanks etc. Development of this instrument I have associated with technical director of this company. This instrument was designed by using electrodes, relays and some electronic circuitry. v. Switching Mode Power Supply: For designing and developing of this power supply. I have associated with Technical Director and Managing Director of this organization. Main application this power supply’s are in computers and defense equipment etc.
